Solar Panels & Energy Storage

Freesia de Heufkens has implemented a future-proof energy solution consisting of floating solar panels combined with a battery storage system (EOS). This integrated installation enables the company to make its energy consumption more sustainable, bypass grid congestion, and actively contribute to the energy transition.

The water basin is optimally used for floating solar panels. 444 panels have been placed on the existing basin, accounting for 286 kWp of installed capacity. The floating construction not only ensures efficient use of space but also contributes to reducing algae growth through shading, with a positive impact on water quality.

To store the surplus of solar energy locally, a storage system of 5 EOS units of 215 kWh each has been chosen, together accounting for a total capacity of 1.3 MWh (100% DoD). This scalable energy storage enables Freesia de Heufkens to dampen peak loads, maximize self-consumption, and potentially participate in grid balancing in the future.
